We would like to invite you to visit our stand (stonewall cymru)at any time between Saturday 2nd and Saturday 9th August. The highlights of the week for us will be: · Tuesday 5th August: A day to raise awareness of our helpline. Call on us at the stall! · Wednesday 6th August: We'll be launching the Welsh language version of our Croeso animation aimed at tackling prejudice in schools. In addition to this, on Wednesday night August 6th, the Commission in partnership with Amnesty International, is sponsoring the grand gig of the Eisteddfod on Maes B (The youth venue). Amongst the performers will be Cerys Matthews, Fflur Dafydd a'r Barf and Gai Toms. Come and see the Human Rights message on the stage of the Eisteddfod - and have a night to remember!

After a recent meeting of Mesmac Trustees, they decided for changes and rules to our News section on Mesmac.com The Red section will from 1st April only be used for North Wales Gay related News, jobs available personal birthday/wedding wishes etc all other Coloured sections have also been moved around with venues listed in the bottom AMBER SECTION they are also listed by town going from north west Wales towards north east Wales as not to show favouritism of venues .Yellow News section in the future will only now be used for Mesmacs very own fundraising nights advertising .To add your news or adverts in this red section please send e-mail to keith@mesmac.com

North Wales Police Cruising/Cottaging Warning Update.= DOLGELLAU
North Wales Police in partnership with the local Gay Community have announced that they will step up patrols in the vicinity of (marian)PUBLIC TOILETS IN DOLGELLAU TOWN CENTRE The announcement came following a number of complaints from residents /office staff and the local Community Council that men seeking sex with other men are using the AREA. Officers have initially warned men who use the Area that uniformed Police patrols in the area will be targeting the whole area to deter their use for sexual purposes. Officers will also consider deploying high profile CCTV technology in the area. Men acting suspiciously may be stopped and ask to account for their presence in the toilets and adjacent car park‘s. All stops will be recorded in accordance with legislation. North Wales Police will be acting with the full co-operation with the local gay community and in accordance with their publicly available policy for dealing with such matters.

Have you been a victim of a homophobic hate crime recently? North Wales Police need you to report it to them, so they can tackle hate crimes in North Wales. You can do this by phoning North Wales police direct by dialling 0845 6071002 and asking to talk to your local North Wales police diversity officer, for western division, anglesey/Gwynedd PC Gwyn Parry, Central division, Llandudno police station for Conwy/Denbigh division PC Andrea Pashley or PC Gary McLeod for Eastern division Wrexham police station or you can report it online by going to the Mesmac North Wales police page and clicking on self reporting form, which goes directly to The North Wales police.

Cruising And The LAW
The sexual offences Act 2003, which prohibits “sexual activity in a public lavatory” has nothing to say about sex in public places.However ,anyone who engages in sex in public can find themselves charged with offences under the Public Order Act,if the police have sufficient evidence to convince a court of law that the activity was witnessed,(or there was a high likeihood of being witnessed),by a third party. The attitude of the police to cruising at any given location varies,according to the time of the day and night,and the number of complaints from local residents and councillors.Occasionally,police will visit a cruising area to advise cruisers of the risc of homophobic attacks,and anyone seen to be involved in sexual behaviour will be asked to move on rather than being arrested. Anyone who leaves evidence of sexual encounters,such as discarded lubricant and condom packets etc draws attention to the fact that the area is a public sex environment,even if no sexual activity has been seen,This can lead to complaints to the police and local council and an increased police presence.

All stops will be recorded in accordance with legislation. North Wales Police will be acting with the full co-operation with the local gay community and in accordance with their publicly available policy for dealing with such matters.
